Tendrils vs Zakeke

Personalizing a product isn't building one.

An honest comparison. Zakeke does simple customization well — the question is whether your products need an option list or an assembly.

Fair credit first

Zakeke earns its Shopify reviews — for engraved names, uploaded artwork, and color choices it's fast, cheap, and self-serve. Where it stops is the furniture problem: a modular sectional is a combinatorial product, not one product with options. That gap is what our configurator exists for.

  • You want to be live this week for under a hundred a month
  • Configurable products are a small slice of the catalog
  • You're happy inside an app's feature ceiling

Pick Tendrils if…

  • The configurator IS the sale — sectionals, modular systems, made-to-order
  • Options menus stopped representing your products honestly
  • You want the showroom build experience online, priced live
  • You'd rather own the asset than rent another app slot

Common questions

What buyers ask comparing us.

Is Zakeke good for Shopify?
For simple personalization — name engraving, image upload, color pick — it's a good affordable app. Its ceiling is configurable furniture: it personalizes products, it doesn't assemble them.
Why can't Zakeke do a modular sectional?
A sectional is combinatorial — corner units, armless pieces, chaises under layout rules, fabric across all of it, a live price. That's a modeled product system, not a personalizer.
Is custom worth it over a $100/mo app?
If 'build your own' is core to how you sell, yes. The app fee is small; the revenue ceiling — customers who can't truly configure buying offline — is the real cost.
Does it replace Zakeke entirely?
For configurable furniture, yes. Some stores keep a light customizer for accessories and run the real configurator on revenue-driving pieces.
